The Kugel Mesh Patch has been recalled due to serious and dangerous side effects such as:

Breakage of the coil ring

• Abdominal pain
• Bowel perforation
• Chronic enteric fistulas
• Unnatural connections/tissue growth in between the bowels/intestines and other organs as well as migration of the recoil ring

Now Davol, the manufacturer of the mesh, blames the doctors for the broken rings. However, tests prove that it was in fact just a malfunction of the ring itself. The failures always occurred where the ring was supposed to be welded together. Davol then issued two more hernia patch recalls after there were reports linking the hernia patch to several fatalities and more than 80 other injuries and problems.
