Fosamax is a drug compound that alters the cycle of bone formation and breakdown in the body. Although Fosamax has not yet been recalled by its manufacturer Merck and Co., it is known that the drug can have severe side effects. Fosamax can harm the blood flow to the jaw and can cause irreversible damage to the face and to the mouth. According to a study by Catherine Van Poznak, M.D., “as many as ten percent of cancer patients prescribed the drug developed osteonecrosis in the jaw”.

Symptoms of osteoncrosis include:

-raw and seeping infections

-facial collapse
