Risks Associated With Ortho Evra

The FDA has updated the warning label on the Ortho Evra Birth control patch because some studies have shown women developing higher risks to blood clots forming in their lungs or legs over women who were not taking the birth control.

Not only have women been known to suffer blood clots, but they have also been known to suffer strokes and other blood clot linked problems. Some deaths have also been reported, and more studies have shown that they might have been linked to the patch.

Although it has not been concluded that the patch gives women a greater risk of health problems, health officials are concerned about the outcomes of the performed studies. In 2005, the FDA updated the label on the patch. To date, approximately 500 people have filed lawsuits or have made claims to have developed injuries due to the patch.

If you have used the patch or know someone who does, then get more familiar with the facts surrounding the drug. The only thing that the women in the blood clot studies had in common was the use of the patch, so it starts to get you thinking.
