On November 14, 2006, the FDA reviewed the safety of the drug Ketek for a possibility of being recalled. Since Ketek’s approval in 2004, there have been concerns as to the safety of the drug. Some users have experienced liver failure liver damage, acute respiratory failure and in some extreme cases even death.

Ketek is an antibiotic that has been approved for the treatment of respiratory tract infections such as chronic bronchitis, acute bacterial sinusitis and pneumonia.
