Byetta Linked To Acute Pancreatitis

According to the FDA, there have now been many reports from users of Byetta of very negative side effects. There is now even a new label including these side effects such as:

  • Pancreatitis
  • Hemorrhagic pancreatitis
  • Necrotizing pancreatitis
  • Death

As of 8/18/2008, it has been reported by the FDA that 30 reports of acute pancreatitis in patients has occurred as well as 6 hemorrhagic or necrotizing pancreatitis. All patients were hospitalized due to their serious conditions. At the time of reporting 2 patients had died and the rest were recovering.
