Actor Dennis Quaid and his wife plan to sue Baxter Healthcare for not providing adequate labeling on their product. Quaid's twins were accidentally given 10,000 units of the blood thinner Heparin, instead of the intended 10 units. Although human error was involved the lawsuit alleges that Baxter Healthcare should be held accountable because the label s for the 10-unit vial and the 10,000-unit vial are almost identical. They may also pursue a lawsuit against the hospital but that decision has not been made yet.

The two week-old victims, Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, have recovered from the event and are now safe at home. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has apologized for the mistake. The Quaid's seek at least $50,000 in damages. The Quaid's are being represented by Susan Loggans.

"The last thing the Quaids want to do is to file a lawsuit but the objective is to prevent this happening to someone else," Loggans said.

There have been reports of 3 children dying from a similar mistake early in 2007. Baxter Healthcare is fortunate these children did not meet that same fate.
