A comment on Taser Maker Issues New Safety Warnings

"We have not stated that Taser causes [cardiac] events in this bulletin, only that the refined target zones avoid any potential controversy on this topic," Steve Tuttle, vice president of communications for Taser, said in a prepared statement.
Taser officials say lowering of a Taser from the chest will incapacitate someone more effectively. The bulletin notes police can still shoot a suspect's chest if there isn't a better option.

A comment on Taser Maker Issues New Safety Warnings

Boy, all you Injury Board Blood-sucking personal injury trial lawyers have jumped on this band wagon. I do believe you are at least the third to blog today and we have not even heard from your ringleader Stevie L yet. Ya'll must smell blood (and money). Relax, Taser just said that the only way to cut off you blood suckers is not to give you any excuse to sue (as if you need an excuse, huh?). Taser stands by all the medical research that proves tasers do not affect the heart any more than mild exersise.

A comment on Actos and Avandia(2)

I was put on Actos approx 1 yr ago and ate the same amount as always and I went from 234 lbs to 280 lbs very quickly. My Dr. doubled my water pill and within 7 days I lost 14 lbs of water. I was on the verge of congestive heart failure, according to the Doctor. I became weak and had a hard time breathing. Five days ago I went to the E/R and was put into the hosp for 4 days for a cath and observed for 3 more days. I also know that I have taken Avandia before and have checked with Pharmacies trying to locate when I was perscribed Avanida and by whom and can't find it. I know I was perscribed this drug for Type II. Any ideas on how I could find that out. Avandia should know but I'm sure they would never devolge that information. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Konghhop

A comment on Actos and Avandia(2)

I would like to point out that your article is highly misleading. Actos and Avandia have different outcomes with regards to cardiovascular mortality.
Actos has actually been proven to reduce deaths from cardiovascular endpoints in the PROactive study, a large randomised controlled trial in patients with existing cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Avandia, on the other hand has shown in a number of meta analases to increase death and numbers of heart attacks. Therefore Avandia has much stronger FDA warnings associated with it than Actos.
Your article seems to confuse the fact that Heart attacks are different from heart failure. The black box warning is on both products because of the increased risk of heart failure. However, no evidence has shown an increase in death due to heart failure.

A comment on Galveston County Man Dies After Being “Tazed” by Police

Are you freaking serious? Do you live in a bubble? DO you really think it works that way? The police were obviously called by a citizen for some reason. The police do not have the luxury of just deciding what they want to do that day and what they do not. YOU, the public, decide largely what they do that day when they go to work. If they just walked away every time someone offered resistance, #1 everyone would resist, #2 YOU would complain then that they were not doing their jobs, #3 YOU wouls not be able to live in your naive little world because the people who protect you from reality everyday would not be able to do so. SO, to those of you who have no knowledge of what your police do and still want to criticize them, WHO DO YOU CALL when you're too scared to handle a situation yourself? I'd be willing to bet that you would gladly have an officer protect you when you don't have the courage to do it yourself.
